Put aside any impressions of Airfix from years ago, this is a STUNNING kit, fully retooled and redesigned for 2014. The quality of molding is simply superb (some mesh details are almost microscopic), the decals are printed perfectly and the look of the Typhoon is captured to a tee. All for under £8, brilliant stuff.

The original Airfix Typhoon was one of my earliest kits, bought in the days of £sd and wearing shorts to school. I loved it as a 10 year old, but its's clear it isn't up to modern standards. Its successor has everything a modelmaker would want. Lots of engraved panel lines (and not too deep or wide), great detail, top class decals and a great fit. Only a couple of criticisms. Firstly, the gates holding the parts to the sprues are a bit thick, which means you can damage smaller parts taking them off and some of the construction is very fiddly - the cocpit seat and the rockets as an example, which means that it probably isn't one for the youngsters.
For years Airfix offered a very tired model of the Typhoon dating from the 1960's , their only competition coming from an equally dated model from the old Frog company (occasionally later offered by Nova ) . So dire was the situation that I gave up on ever building a Typhoon , preferring instead to take the softer option of building the Matchbox Hawker Tempest . All that is now changed . This re-tooling of the Typhoon by Airfix is superb . Nicely moulded , it incorporates a very pleasant level of detailing . Straightforward to build , it is a kit to be recommended to modellers of all skill levels and experience .

I totally agree with all of the 5 star reviews, simply excellent kit which proves Airfix has fully committed to competing with the Tamiya's of the world, fit and finish is superb with great decals and clear parts, a model bargain.
