This film is rather confusing in that it didn't seem to know what genre it wanted to be: horror, love story or thriller. It's likeable enough but the action is rather thin on the ground: there seems to be a fight scene every twenty minutes, and instead of setting out to be one thing it loses its way, and you end up hoping by the end they do not decide to release a sequel. One plus is the always excellent Anthony Wong, who probably spent the film wondering what the hell was happening around him.

Confusing to start with - many factions introduced with no clear understanding of how they relate and what their purpose is in the story line. However, persevere and the confusion just turns into a jolly fun romp. Great action sequences, good character interactions, and good cinematography. Not as 'arty' as Crouching Tiger, not as silly as Zu Warriors, but worth watching all the same.

Okay, I really liked this bloody movie but be warned this is one of those movies that really demands a sequel of some sort which is why I gave it a 4 star. Asian cinema is really catching up fast with western effects within a few years you wont be able to tell the difference and that gets me excited.

I agree with another reviewer. The film did not know which genre it wanted to fit into. If it was horror it came off more B movie comedy. The closest thing i compare this too is a martial arts version of the X-men. You have the new members with underground connections like Gambit. Iron hands the teams blacksmith and and with a name like that you can guess his powers brains and brawn like the Beast. A man with animal like senses who has a berserker beast side like Wolverine. Then a wheelchair bound telepath and telekinetic, who would pass as a cross between Professor X and Jean Grey.

The story is a government agency Department 6, who are the regular police and orders department, and the Devine Constables, are more like the secrete police force answerable only to the king, are both taking on a case of trying to solve the case of forged currency in the country. The head of Department 6 feels threatened by the head of the DC. Making his mission to not only solve the case but discredit the DC as well. The forging could just be a chaos screen for a more sinister purpose. Can the two agencies work together and put their differences aside.

A good film more Dragonballs Z the martial arts, but very watchable I would give it 3.5 stars but I thought it deserved a round up rather than down. The acting of the lead villein seems very camp, he overcompensates his manly ness by surrounding himself with lots of pretty women as servants/slaves. All in all an ok to good film.

This is a very good example of the Chinese martial arts theatre. The main characters are convincing the special effects are superb the settings and costumes are a treat to behold. The plot simple in outline is given depth and dimention by the rivalry of the two competing police groups who are manipulated by the villain of the piece.
Recommended to all Asian film fans.

The Four is a superb action film from China, that all Action movie lovers need to see!

Mixing some truly breath-taking martial arts that Asian cinema has become known for with the supernatural, The Four offers a fresh new take on the genre - and a lot of fun too! With plenty of action throughout, The Four centers on a story that involves telekinesis and other strange mystical powers. Add in some adrenaline fueled Wuxia-style combat and you've got yourself a film bursting with entertaining action!

The DVD also contains a nice batch of special features too, including a few behind-the-scenes extras which make this DVD a must-have for action fans.

Check it out!

I loved this - yes it was a multi-genre film and all the better for it. It had action, romance and comedy all rolled into a great production, with excellent special effect and a cracking soundtrack.

Very good film. It has action and some interesting stories about the characters. It is not too dissimilar to the X-Men where you have a team of people with abilities who team up to fight for good.

Who cares what genre it is? It's a film with a good sound track and a blend of martial arts, adventure and romance with a plot that keeps you fully engaged with the story line and characters.
