As a fan of the Original Richard Burton Recording - the idea of having a new cast was to me daunting, Jeff Wayne managed to assemble the PERFECT cast for the 1976 release - so How were they going to manage on Tour with so many famous faces now long since passed?

Well, I saw the original DVD - and was VERY SURPRISED - It was AMAZING! And sadly, I missed my chance to see teh show while it was on tour...

Then came the announcement of the NEW GENERATION - And honestly my blood began to boil! NO! Replacing Richard Burton? Replacing Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues? ITS NEVER GOING TO WORK!!!

Was I ever WRONG!

The New Generation Tour has seen a MASSIVE increase in Budget - A whole slew of New Stage Effects bring the story to life like never before.

Liam Neeson - Even as a Hologram, was a perfect choice to replace Richard Burton, and it was also wonderful to hear Marti Pellow (Wet Wet Wet) perform once more...

Jeff Wayne has made some additions in areas of dialogue, new fans will not even notice but old school veterans like myself will... At first, this irritated me, but they are small and negligible, and they also add much more depth - Let go your inner fan boy and embrace the changes as they do work for the majority.

Musically, Nothing has really changed much, which is wonderful... Though towards the transition of a couple of songs, there is an epilepsy inducing audio 'Stutter' that has been a 'Thing in pop music' for teh last 10 years or so... Obviously there to capture the attention of the Younger Audience - Some may find that a little off putting and my inner fan boy screams 'NO! WHY DID YOU DO THAT? THE MUSIC WAS PERFECT!'

Minor Fan Boy Gripes aside, There is nothing more I can say other than if you LOVE The Original, You owe it to yourself to OWN THIS DVD! Its fantastic and managed something even teh original did not...

It almost made me CRY!

The quality of the Blu Ray was very poor, jumping and skipping in several places. The quality of the production was nearly as poor; did not rate it at all compared to the original. Unless you get it in a bargain bucket don't purchase it as it will only grate you your nerves as you listen to it and look at the characters on screen.

If you excuse the first 20 minutes or so (you'll see why), the rest of it more than makes up for it. It's really good.
