I received this disc on the day of release and have listened to it literally every day since. It's been a good twenty years since I last fell quite so hard for a band. No mere retro project, these gents do draw upon the sounds of everything I have loved in the last 25 years of British pop music, but still manage to craft something fresh and vital from it. And sound is only paint: without a good solid canvas to paint on, you have nothing -- and Sulk consistently build good solid songs, songs you can love. I haven't heard any others released this year that even come close.

Negative words for a very positive polished debut album! Current retro-an oxymoron for you! Musically tight, professional, quality sound. Plus a brilliant live band!

Requested by my stepson for his birthday, so haven't heard it. Assume it's fine, as he was pleased and have had no complaints!, He knows his music and only asks for things he likes!

I saw Sulk (then The Ruling Class) several times in, around London between 2008-10, also picked up a few of their early songs, including Sleeping Beauty, Marian Shrine, Flowers, all featured here. Glad to find they have re-emerged, albeit under a different guise, and have been given the opportunity to put together and record a strong and consistent debut. The sound: Stone Roses, with a dash of Brit-pop. Recommended.
