This is the second full novel in Ms Hunters Elemental World series, which follows on from the Elemental Mysteries series. You don't have to read them all first, but it vastly improves your enjoyment and understanding of the little details if you do. And Ms Hunter does excel in the little details. Her storytelling draws the reader in to a whole new world until you actually start believing that it is reality. I also love the fact that her books are not riddled with spelling and grammatical errors like so many that are churned out in this genre.
Blood and Sand tells the story of Baojia, a vampire security expert with a guilt complex, and Natalie, a vibrant human journalist who might be about to push too far for a good story. It also introduces Elixar, a vampire drug which has ravaged Europe, to North America.
Natalie is a person I would love to be, and not only because Baojia is so hot in a brooding sort of way.
A good read in its own right but also sets up the ongoing storyline for future books in the series.

loved the original series. Supernatural for the thinking reader, one where words are dumbed down to three sylablles or less but where readers are treated as intelligent. It had a great blend of romance and plot and that all continues into this spin off sereis about characters from the roiginal> this is my favourite so far, in fact possibly of both series. I loved Baojia in the first books, and was sure there were hidden depths to be plumbed - and i was right. He's a fabulous character, real Vampire - the scene where he gets jealous over another vampire sniffing Natalie, even though as far as she was concerend they were just freinds... wow! that was hot! and it just went on from there with a steaming, sensual romance alongside a fabulous storyline including plots about baojia and his background and current precidament and the ongoing probelms with Elixir...like the first sereis, one that has so much content it bears reading and re reading

Brilliant another glorious read I liked the way all the characters were brought together there was nothing I did not like about this book the promise of threats and intrigue were very clever even at the end you never really sure it is over. I would recommend this book to any body who is a fan of the paranormal especially the romance

I am gradually reading all the Elemental Mysteries books and each one is as good as the last. The stories all gel together and I can thoroughly recommend them.

Another solid and entertaining read from Elizabeth Hunter. Continuing in the search for the vampire/human drug 'Elixir' and providing backgrounds for those involved in the story. A well written adult offering into this popular genre.
