I bought this book after reading the breif, but also the past customer comments which are always helpful. The story has a lot of potential but its not exactly a hidden gem of literature, and at times its terrible. The grammer and spelling mistakes in this book are incredible. Mr baker I would suggest you read your books bepfore you sign them of or get a better editor. I'm not having a go, its truly terrible at times.

Also the writing is very simple which is what makes the story both enjoyable and at time tedious. A lot of information is simply recycled over many chapters and there is very little conversation detail.

But I will be buying the second as like I wrote the story has a lot of potential and as long as the author puts a little more effort in and hires a new editor this series of books will be very popular.

This was a good start to the series. I enjoyed reading it and have already downloaded the rest of the series. The only thing that let this book down was the editing that made reading difficult at times otherwise it would of got the 5stars. I took a chance with this book with it having no reviews but I'm glad I did.

Do authors ever read these? I think not. thoughly enjoyed this book and would recommend except for the bad spelling, misuse of words like on instead of one. some sentences did not make sense. Surely you could fimd somebody to read it through! merited more stars but for this. Have looked to buy next two books but the reviews are full of complaints. sad.

Loved the story, the characters and the fast pace of a really good story, a real page turner.

The only thing that stopped it from being a 5 rating was the editing I have never seen so many errors in a book as in this book .. a real shame.

If you intend to write a series numbering up to 7 books (according to reviews), then at least have the courtesy to number them accordingly..
I saw these books and downloaded all available - 5 at the time.
I've just got round to starting them and couldn't determine where to start and although I opened all five which is annoying, i would like to read them in sequence! Yet I still couldn't' decide the start so had to go to reviews and luckily opened on reviews f or the first book.
Also, the spelling and Typo's are shocking!
Do yourself (and us) a favour in getting them edited and numbered

If I had submitted a piece of work as full of errors as this book to my teachers at school or my tutors at university it would either have been failed outright or given back to me unmarked with stern instructions to rewrite it properly corrected. It beggars belief that an author could take the time and trouble to write an imaginitive piece of fiction like this and then not bother to proof read it before submission! There are several major errors on just about every page, words with letters missing or with extra letters tacked on the end, words that don't belong in the sentence and missing words that should be there but aren't. The author also seems to be trying to please both British and American readers by offering up both spellings ( honor and honour for example) and both word usages ( fall and Autumn) which is perhaps commendable but a bit jarring. To submit work this unfinished for people to actually purchase when it is obviously more of a rough manuscript than a finished piece of work is shabby and very bad form. Maybe he trusted his proof reading friends too much or something but if he did it himself then he needs help. I would give it more stars as it has a few interesting twists on the usual type of mage/soldier narrative and despite being almost constantly irritated by the many, many mistakes it was enjoyable and I will no doubt go on to read the rest of the series, but I have given it three stars as I just have to mark it down for its appalling lack of completeness. Surely if Amazon accepts written work for sale they should check it has been completed properly? Should that not be a criteria for its acceptance? I would never submit work like this which has just not been edited properly at all.
Yes it is worth reading for the story of the country boy with hidden magic and the usual kind of mysteries and medieval style living, but if like me you are a stickler for correct spelling be prepared for much intake of breath and sucking in of teeth and tutting as you turn each page to find yet more mistakes to plough through.

I bought this book on a whim, and boy am I glad that I did. At 77p it is a damn steal and I hope such a price only encourages other readers to take the plunge and support this author. This is the first of a multi-book story (7 in total) and having read the first four books, I can say with some certainty that this is well worth the read. You got Elves, Dragons, Desert Warriors, Mages, warring Gods, Princes and Princesses the whole kit & caboodle - what's not to like!?! Well, there are a couple of things: i) editing, it is very poor, but not so poor that it detracts from the story -it is just surprising to see, and ii) the order of the books -why not make it clear which is book 1, 2, 3 and 4 - I had to go back to the Amazon website to know the order of the books.

Anyway, minor gripes aside, grab yourself a bargain and enjoy this thoroughly entertaining tale.

P.S. There is very little about the author, I would welcome an about the author page.

This was my first book by Jordan Baker and i will be buying more.

The tale of Aaron as he comes to grips with who and what he is, nice characters and a nice paced plot that keeps you engaged. Jordan doesn't skip on the violence but it's all in context, i liked that Aaron's journey wasn't effortless that he had to work for his abilities and made mistakes.

She also manages to create those characters you just want to slap, which made me read faster just so i could see them get what they deserve.

It's clear that this is the start of a series (i've already downloaded the others) and i'm looking forward to watching Aaron develop and see where Jordan's going to take him.

One thing that lets this book down and is the reason for the four stars is the editing, at times this makes the story confusion, but a good editor would turn this around and i'd be happy to change my review to 5 stars.

Have so enjoyed this book - it took me straight into their world, so that I was right there with all the characters, sharing their adventures, savouring their triumphs and crying in sympathy when they were hurt. This is what a good book should do - grab hold of you, and drag you straight into the drama, so that you are right there with them - I highly recommend this as a good read
