I have several Little Axe CDs and this is another excellent production. Best listened to in the evening. His name is Skip MacDonald, I believe born as Bernard Alexander and produces music that is reggae and blues based but with an atmospheric treatment.
An excellent album of remixes and rare tracks by Little Axe. I've liked Little Axe since they started out with their fusion of Blues, Dub, Gospel and whatever else they can mix into the melting pot. The only thing that irritates is that if you buy the CD version then you don't get the bonus digital tracks unless you download the Amazon Cloud Player.
Come on Amazon, give the people who buy the CD a link to download the bonus digital tracks.
I bought a cassette of "the wolf that house built" when it came out in 1994, and played it over and over again. So i thought i would revisit his work now i have an mp3 player, and i was not disappointed! A startling collection of oddities, a mixture of old-school blues and echo/delay dub effects, this man is a genius - not a dud track on it. I added three of my favourite tracks from "the wolf" that aren't on this, and now have a new collection to marvel at. If you know his work, i think you'll be as pleased as i was - if you don't, this an excellent sample of what he has done, and of his singular vision of blues music in a modern form.
