This is an amazing book. I have a number of books I buy as gifts for my friends and fellow Aikidoka, and this one will be added to the list. The book is in three parts. Firstly the story of Linda Holiday Sensei's Aikido journey, evolving into the story of the life of one of her teachers Motomichi Anno Senei with the third and main section a series of short stories, lessons, observations from interviews and meetings with Anno Sensei over the years. The book is a marvel. Linda's ability to understand the complex lessons and ideas as spoken to her by Anno Sensei is incredible enough but to then translate these concepts into easily understandable English(American) is amazing. The teachings by Anno Sensei are wonderful and reveal the possibilties for personal development and bringing goodness to others through the practice of Aikido. It helped me to start to understand why the Founder of Aikido created this Martial Art. Although the book is mainly about the heart and mind of Aikido there are some excellent practical solutions to some common problems found when trying to teach Aikido and some guidance on techniques. The stories only cover a page or so so you can dip in anytime and reveal a gem in only a few minutes. Overall a wonderful book, I love it. Thank you from the heart, Linda Holiday Sensei.

As all the endorsements inside and on the back cover reveal, Linda Holiday has done an amazing job at collecting all sorts of gems re Aikido; the founder of the art and her current teacher who trained with the founder. Really beautiful, and heartfelt writing and reading!

People's views about what aikido is about are many and varied, but if you want to learn first hand from the people who were around O Sensei and trained under him, then this book offers a fantastic insight into how aikido developed in Japan and what O Sensei actually said. This book is a wonderful guide that gives clear direction to the core principles that O Sensei taught and which differentiate aikido from just a combat form.

The book clearly sign posts the way......................

Thank you Linda for this gift to aikido.
