Let me start with the basics. This ships ina digipack which folds out to three panels. There are poor quality clearly pulled from a worn VHS tape) throughout. There is a full page article by William Hogeland which says nothing new or interesting for Cooper fans (and who else is going to buy this?) It's basically a run through of the history of the Alice Cooper. Usual Bio stuff.

The track listing is as follows:

From the Inside
Nurse Rosetta
THe Quiet Room
I Never Cry
Devil's Food
Welcome to My Nightmare
Billion Dollar Babies
Only Women Bleed
No More Mr. Nice Guy
I'm Eighteen
Black Widow Jam
Wish I was Born in Beverly Hills
Dead Babies Jam
Ballad of Dwight Fry
Go To Hell
How You Gonna See Me Now
Inmates (We're All Crazy)
Schools Out

So, this is the From the Inside tour. Looking at the track listing you're probably wondering how anything can go wrong. The tracks are a fantastic collection of ALice Cooper in his hey day, just post the break up of the infamous band. Every song is terrific in its own right, so this must be a real winner, huh?

Well, not quite. I can live without fantastic audio, since live concerts like this are a rarity. I'm not docking it any stars at all for quality. It's not perfect by any means, but there's another huge issue - Alice Cooper himself. I don't know if this show was near the end of the tour, but for whatever reason, Alice's voice was clearly shot. In fact, there are very few moments where he even tries to sing - the vast majority of the songs are "spoken", sometimes without reference to the actual melody. The band on the other hand - while sounding rather like a generic 80's rock band - continue belting out each and every number. It's such a shame, because this had everything going for it.

So it's a three. Fans of this period of Coopers music will want it. I think you can escape some of the disappointment simply by knowing what to expect. So I thought I'd give you a heads up. This is an interesting footnote for Cooper fans, but certainly not essential.

I was looking forward to this based on this tour and exciting tracklist. But, the sound quality isn't that good. Although the band plays great, Alice's voice is a bit of a disappointment: after the truly wonderful 'From The Inside' album where his voice sounded great, on this concert he's not delivering his vocals well at all (sounds like he 'short of breath'...). Maybe he was already back to his struggles with alcohol by then - but this is a 'missed opportunity', with so many great songs. As an avid Alice fan you'll have to have this, but it should have been recorded better

Erm...judging by the EXACT set-list, this is surely the audio-version of The Strange Case Of Alice Cooper DVD! Thus, it seems pointless buying this, when, Alice's voice aside, you get the visuals with that. The band storm through the songs, and, actually, I think the problem is... Alice can't keep up with them!!! Still great, though. The DVD, I mean, wouldn't wanna just 'hear' it....
