Five stars for the music, which is sublime; one of the master's finest. Several fewer stars for the poorly researched information on the insert. Whilst it is true that Ravi Shankar's discography can be confusing, due to albums being issued under differing titles in different territories, the record company at least should be expected to have correct information, but this CD gives a recording date of "1964 in London, England" and directly underneath, a publication date of 1963! Both are incorrect - the three pieces here were recorded in London in 1961, and first released in Britain the following year as 'Music of India' on the HMV label (the album also appeared in India under the same title). In 1963 it was issued in the United States by World Pacific as 'India's Master Musician/Recorded in London', and has been known by that title (here shortened to 'In London') pretty much since then.

Bought this to act as background music for a set of photos taken whilst on a visit to India. provided plenty of different variations and made looking at the images a more memorable experience.

Fantastic introduction to one of this century's great artists, and especially for those who want only a taste of Shankar.
