This ereader is an academic working machine: Is design to Read, to Write and Take Notes with ease and that's it.
Is not a toy to watch movies, play games, check you Facebook or email account, mess around in the beach or any other form of procrastination. Have this in mind.
The big screen size allows you to have 1 entire page visible and readable very confortably. Very clear screen. Battery last for ages (3-4 weeks). Stylus works fine to write, draw and highlight the text. Support an enormous amount of file formats. WIFI included. Checking your email is possible.
TWO IMPORTANT FEATURES FOR ACADEMIC USE:
1. You can extract your highlighted text from your PDF papers and export it into a new TXT file. Won't find this feature easily in other ereaders or tablets (ICARUS EXCEL, which is almost the same ereader, also has it).
2. You can write in the PDF and save the file with your comments and on it.
- The stylus can ONLY be kept in their cover. Then, having the cover is compulsory. - When reading with the cover (and you will need it) weights about 600 grms. Slighty over comfort, but ok. - When close to run out of battery it may have crashes. So, even it is a long-lasting battery is better to recharge it once every 2 weeks. - Price is high compare to smaller ereaders.
OK once you have got a pdf loaded and in the right zoom level. But then it has a high likelyhood of crashing. In which case you have to perform a complex reset sequence which is poorly described in the vague manual.
I complained about the crashing and was told the pdfs I am using are "too big" for the device. They are 100 megabyte magazines and are the whole reason I bought the reader. I am told it is designed for "properly created pdfs". Properly created pdfs can be read with smaller readers with decent software. There is no need to spend over 200 pounds on something which is SLOW and crashes at least once every time I use it.
The customer service from Artatech is AWFUL. It took them over a week just to process my order. When asking questions it takes days to get a response and they are currently trying to blame the locked screen on it being broken which it is definately not.
The handwriting recognition is a joke. It cant even recognise one slowly drawn letter, let alone anything written at normal speed. The note taking function, like the rest of the device is SO SLOW and takes ages to write anything. The WiFi is a waste of time as the device is too slow.
In short - buy this and you will be stuck with a 10 year out of date ereader.
The screen is as good as expected so it's speed. The text to voice is so bad that it makes it useless and the software is difficult to actualize some features don't seem to work making it difficult to place passwords to navigate and other minor problems that make some of the features impossible to use.
