Mitch Ryder is a Soul-influenced rock musician who wrote in the early eighties beautiful and catchy songs. At this time I bought all his records but I forgot about him for 20 years. This compalition is a perfect start to learn about his music although after listening to it several times I am thinking about getting the original CDs. Each record was an enitity and this may get a little bit lost (as always in best of s). Still: Great soul-ful rock music with good lyrics.
Excellent compilation from the "middle" period. Sadly "The terrorist" was omitted, one of the great anti-war/violence statements. A major oversight. Interesting versions of "Long hard road" and "Like a rolling stone" (b sides and not album versions). This is a great starting place for anyone interested in one of the unsung legends of rock. Also check out "Detroit breakout" for virtually complete Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels - 100 mph blue-eyed soul.
