A mixture of historical fiction and a little mythology.
Takes you to a believable era in history with accurate descriptive writing and using a critical time in history as the old ways of worship and civilisation are being overrun by new Christianity.
Well written with a strong storyline - A good saga

This is the best fantasy book I've read in ages. It sits in that place between fantasy and historical fiction we've learned to love in Game of Thrones. Gripping action, characters that you develop real affection for and then spend much of the second half of the book fearing for when the swords really come out.
Swords of Good Men, has a slightly cinematic style. Scenes vary in length in a way that generates a rhythm that carries you through the book at break neck speed.
If you're a fan of Martin or Gemmell, this book will hit the spot. Engaging, surprising and in places, brilliantly written. If this is a debut novel, I look forward to the next one!

Great to read novels from foreign writers albeit he lives in London. Early Swedish/Norwegian/Danish history is very scant and Kristjansson has brought this era well into the limelight with the advance of Christianity into the ice lands. I have high hopes of his follow-up Valhalla Sagas.

Enjoyed this one as a 99p purchase. Strong storyline fragmented by too many short episodes and apart from the central characters, I found the supporting cast a little confusing with the Scandinavian names melting into an anonymous crowd. Would have bought the sequel tho, and will watch out for it next yet air when the price is right!

Fast paced action with a satisfying number of plot twists. The characterisation was also good. Should appeal to fans of Gemmell and action filled yarns generally.

Only 3 chapters in but so far so good rather a lot of Scandinavian names to get my head around but the scene has been well set

It was Ok, a bit slow at time's, and a little complicated, as there seems to be to many groups involved.
