Cheap but effective
on 12 June 2013
Although you arguably may not need a case for the Defy Mini, thanks to its solidly fitted and rugged standard case, it can't hurt to have a bit of extra protection against scratches and other cosmetic damage, as well that extra layer of protection should your phone get dropped or suffer an impact.
This case fits snugly, and you will soon forget that it's there, although there are some minor niggles. Firstly the lip of the case that attaches around the screen can make it awkward to perform gestures that extend from beyond, or go beyond, the screen-edge; for example, the bundled Swype keyboard of the Defy Mini uses a screen-edge gesture to hide the keyboard, which requires you to push against this gel case to ensure the gesture is completed correctly; not a big issue since the case isn't too rigid, but it takes some getting used to.
My only other major gripe is that for some reason this case has a hole in order to expose the latch on the back of the phone. However, this latch is for removing the phone's own plastic case, which would require you to remove this gel skin case anyway, so it seems like a redundant feature; the gel skin should really have covered the latch in order to improve water resistance.
Both of these are tiny issues in an otherwise ideal, and absolute bargain, of a case.
