A drop in standard from the previous series.
Andrew is moody after Erica's sudden departure at the end of the previous series, before pairing up with a most unlikely girlfriend. David and family depart the scene,, Kim leaves after an early episode and the White family have left the pub. The two new doctors are not fully developed as characters and it is hard to feel any empathy with them, The true star of the series is Margery Mason who plays Alice North, a semi-regular in all twelve series. Given a bigger role than in previous years, he family's involvement with David Shearer is the main storyline in the first half of the series and shows the full range of Margery Mason's talents. She was the equal of a number of actresses who had Dame preceding their names. Too many of the stories are issue based with helplines to phone at the end of the episode.. There should have been one for the writers to produce more cheerful storylines
Peak Practice did last for another five series. Given the quality of series 7 it was fortunate to do so.
