I thought this was going to be similar to 'Lost wife, found barracuda' which is an excellent read, full of humorous anecdotes by a diving instructor who gave up a mundane existence for life in the sun. I was wrong & disappointed. The author seems to have a bad attitude & little respect for everyone he's taught & everywhere he's been, including the islands he so desperately wished to escape to. His hedonistic life spent in a drunken stupor while diving with students goes against all safe diving practices. Still only 3/4's way through it & there are so many grammatical errors - not the authors fault. Hope Eric has matured a bit since settling down & having children of his own who hopefully will not come across an instructor as discourteous to others as their own father. He's had a great opportunity in life, had some fantastic adventures and this book could have been so much more if it had been written without the trash talk.

gave up after less than a quarter way in as I imagined myself meeting the egocentric prick and punching him. A horrible book badly written by a barely literate poor human being who, I hope, will re-read and publish an updated copy when he's older and wiser. There is potential for the humour promised on the cover but sadly it never gets beyond the supercilious twattery of a spoilt brat. What the publisher was thinking is beyond me, but must surely have involved some temporary loss of judgement or subterfuge.

Purchased this book due to being an instructor myself and wanted to read the stories from another mouth, can relate to everything written and loved the way Eric told it all.

Would recommend this book to anyone interested in diving or just for a laugh at the way the diving community live their adventurous lives.

Hope I now get the chance to experience being on the Caribbean paradise teaching too :)

If you are in the dive industry you will understand if you are not then you will have an insight, irrespective of the location this could have been any instructor. A big thankyou to Eric for writing this for telling it as it is and keeping us entertained to the end.
If you like diving this is the book for you, rather than death and destruction or pirate treasure this book tells the real story.

A really sad read about someone who seems to have complete disdain for his dive students. Sorry, as a fellow Instructor I thought I would get some insights, amusing stories but didn't get any of that.

An entertaining read. Just spoilt by the number of typo's, otherwise great fun. May even inspire other's to "follow their dream"

Pleasant to read, some really good funny bits, but not for those expecting a serious read.
