I don't mean to belittle the author's work, as to actually write and publish a book is a major event in anyone's life. I enjoyed the story as I'm really into supernatural books at the moment. However, her idea of how "upper class" people talk was like something from the 18th century. They are walking, talking human beings like the rest of us and don't use such outdated terms as "cad" "bounder" "rakehell". So I found that really offputting and it annoyed me throughout the story. The second thing that really annoyed me was the fact that the lead character was American, but with Scottish and Cornish ancestry. However, the story is set in Cornwall, which the author seems to have populated with Scots. She writes of them "speaking with a burr", using the term "wee" and other words, which are used by the Scots not the Cornish. On the plus side, her descriptions of various parts of Cornwall were very good. All in all, I enjoyed the story and read both. I wouldn't have paid a great deal for them however and think the author needs to decide whether she is going to set her tale in the 17th or 18th Century, or bring the language up to date for the 21st century she has set it in.

Just finished this one and enjoyed it as much as the first book, just loved the 'Colins' and what a true friend Margaret is, lots of twist, turns, and lots of Ghosts, really enjoyed it, it was easy to read not scarely, so you can read it in bed and sleep afterwards, if you read the first Haunted house for sale, then read this one as you well know most of the Characters, well, the living ones at least.....and of course there is a Knight in shinning Armour as well....quite a few unexpected 'happens' and surprises...yes good....read it....Lilly

I loved this book. Very well written. One of those can't put down tales. The storyline is great with ghosts and demons and also romance threading through. I love all books by Merabeth James and can't wait to read her next offering.

This is a follow up book to For Sale: Old Manor House about what happens after the owner s are living in a haunted house. A lot better than most sequels and I found this book fun too.
