It was a gift and the person who received had been very happy with it
on 16 April 2015
I'm not one to usually leave reviews, but thought I'd just add this one in case it can help others that have the issue of the sounds ceasing to work but the rest of the speaker apparently still in operation (lights up, buttons still skip track on phone etc).
I bought the speaker when it was reduced down to about £5. It was a gift and the person who received had been very happy with it. Until it suddenly stopped working. I would have simply asked for a replacement but this didn't seem possible and a refund wouldn't have covered the cost of a new replacement through the returns process.
Basically, one of the connections, (on mine it was the red one) has become disconnected from the speaker itself - maybe shaken loose until breaking by use of the speaker itself. Bearing in mind it had only been used for about a week.
You can pop the speaker grill off of the top of the unit by sliding something very thin between the plastic and the aluminium on the side of the unit, once that is off, you can slide the aluminium outer housing off of the unit and the speaker is in full view. You need to then carefully break the glue between the edges of the speaker and the plastic housing, allowing you to pull the speaker out and get to the connections underneath. A simple solder job to get the wire reconnected resolved the no sound issue. I've attached an image of the disassembled housing after I had resoldered the wire.
Hope this helps!
