Still a good read after 300 years

Daniel Defoe wrote stories of his time, the reformation, plague times, before motorised transport, telephones, and police, yet the tales remain recognisable to us since they pull from our history, mail coaches, sailing ships, London grime and graft. The language of this edition has an archaic flavour but isn't so convoluted as to be difficult to comprehend.
