I burn really easily. I wear this when on hot summer holidays and can sunbathe comfortably all day with it on.
I am still sensible though, and if you're buying factor 50 sun cream like me - so should you!
Stay out of the sun where possible during peak hours. Dab rather than rubbing when toweling off after a dip. Top up as required. I know this is "all day" suncream, but after a full day in the sun, I usually use a less high quality sun cream in the late afternoon on trouble areas - nose, neck, ears, shoulders, back of knees. This is especially important if using for children. They're not thinking about their sun cream and have probably rubbed some of it off.
This is not a magic spray but it is a welcome change to having to wear a t shirt all the time while on holiday.
I have also never had trouble with this staining my clothes or towels, but I don't often wear white clothes. It also helps to not put on too much sun cream as there is only so much your skin can absorb.
So as someone who burns easily, I find that p20 is the best for sun protection and not burning especially when you're in and out of the water.
The only downside for me is that it does mark clothes, especially white clothes. I heard that they changed the formula to stop this but what I've found is that it still marks your clothes it just comes out a little easier than the old formula.
On balance, I still use this for the protection but I do wish that it wouldn't stain!!
This product is a yellowish oil which is absorbed fairly quickly. The instructions warn that it can stain and should not come into contact with clothes for 15 minutes after application. If you can manage that (or only wear swimwear in strong or already yellowish colours) it is great. Having forgotten a beach towel I found it did leave horrible yellow stains on a white hotel towel spread on the sunlounger. They did not show on the cheap beach towel I then bought. I also have a similar stain on a white shirt I put on straight away thinking the 15 minutes was overkill so be warned. Whilst I did reapply the oil after swimming when on holiday I did so much less than my friends using conventional suncreams and I do not feel the need to do so at all in the weaker UK sun. The oiliness kept my skin in much better condition and needing less aftersun. I came home with a lovely tan and the only part of me that burned was my lip. Be careful of eyelids, lips and other areas you might miss. I personally prefer the lotion to the spray.
This stuff provides excellent protection and works well when in and out of a swimming pool or the sea, but it does leave the skin quite greasy once applied. This is fine when you're on holiday, but I can't really use it day to day on my big bald head without it feeling a little oily and sticky.
I bought this in error as assumed I was ordering the pour out lotion version. However it looked like a good idea so went with it.
PRO: Easy to apply and appears to protect as well as lotion
CON: You still have to rub the spray in so you still end up getting your hands covered as you would with lotion. CON: Does not spray at an angle as it goes down CON: I have factor 30 and my wife has factor 20, 100ml lotion always last us a week. Last week I used spray and it lasted 4 days, my wife still got 7 days from her lotion version. So I think although it is 100ml, it has a lot more C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, to thin it down so it sprays a fine mist. CON: the fine mist ends up falling to the floor if you miss when trying to get your back, and on marble tiles this is a nightmare CON: Works out a lot more expensive than lotion
After running out I put some of my wife's factor 20 lotion in the bottle and it sprayed out OK although not as a mist.
Will never stop using P20 as it is brilliant apart from all the yellow staining on clothes where you perspire, but will stick to the lotion
THE BEST SUNCREAM WE HAVE USED! We have two people in our family that burn terribly whilst we're on holiday, so this year I did some reserach and found this suncream would be the best to use (and try as I have never heard of it before). I have to say, neither person suffered any degree of burning after using this. My husband actually had a light tan for the first time ever in 20 years i have known him and my daughter didn't suffer with painful sunburn or blisters on her shoulders. They went through a bottle each in a week so you do need to stock up, but it's totally worth it. I also used it on the younger ones with great success. I don't think I would ever use a different brand of suncream again.
perfect for one person who needs all over coverage for 1 week - lasted until last day of holiday, perfect size. I have very fair skin and one application in the morning was enough to stop me burning in Thailand/30 degrees heat!
Absolutely swear by this stuff! A must if you’re travelling to a hot place or are in the sun in general. Never been burnt when I’ve put this on. On holiday, I will usually put this on in the morning before leaving the room...it will be good for a few hours providing you don’t sweat much or have a dip in the ocean or pool. But after a swim I just reapply to ‘burn-prone areas’ like shoulders & face. Be careful it’s nasty stuff if it gets in your eyes. I’ve found it will also light clothing with a yellow tinge so be warned!
