An excellent release of the 1964 story “The Reign of Terror”. Episodes 4 and 5 are missing from the BBC archives but have been reconstructed into superb animations for this DVD. The animation for these missing episodes is quite incredible and is of a higher quality than the recent second doctor (Patrick Troughton) DVD release of “The Power of the Daleks” where (unfortunately) all 6 episodes are missing in their entirety. A worthy purchase for any Doctor Who fan. Can please we have Marco Polo (another William Hartnell story from Doctor Who’s first season, unfortunately missing all episodes) to the same standard?

Classic Doctor Who episode - one set in the future and one historical story. This is a historical story - I really enjoyed this dvd.

It's wonderful to see this classic Hartnell story.
It's a putty there are two episodes animated, but it is still enjoyable

Glad to finally see this one, though the animation in the missing eps is a little crazy.

Not seen this for 53 years, animation was cleverly done. Typically quirky & Spaghetti Western style in it's twists & turns.

The last official BBC video release, this now rare box set is a thing of beauty. The two videos inside contain a smattering of Hartnell and Troughton episodes, including one from The Web Of Fear - surely high up on any Whovian's list of Want-To-See. And, whereas collectors will treasure it always, it is the cynical among us who truly benefit. For although it was only released last November, it has already tripled in value and can only become more expensive. Until the Beeb release the dvd, that is...

I thought the story line was a bit week but all in all was OK if you are a Hartnell fan you will enjoy

It is always interesting to see some of the early stories that are no longer complete in the BBc Archives. Although the episodes from The Faceless Ones and The Web Of Fear have been remastered and released on the Lost In Time DVD this VHS tape is the only way to see The Reign Of Terror and is worth buying just for this story. You may also wish to buy the BBC soundtrack to fill in the gaps left by the missing episodes.
