Pleasant reading like all Boris Johnson's books. An interesting selection of personalities though history who made an impact on London.

Very interesting and informative. This is written in a very amusing manner and thereby keeps the reader on side throughout.

Thank you Mr Johnson for a wonderfully amusing account of the history of London, especially good for those whose knowledge is a little rusty with age. However I'm sure a great many more people could enjoy the book if it was made into an audio version. I for one, would immediately order several copies for family and friends. Please, please consider those who are partially sighted, this is a gem not to be missed.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and although not the usual bedtime reading he was quite fascinated by it and indeed surprised at how knowledgeable the author is. After reading only a short part of it he was able to answer questions on quiz programmes because of it. Instead of passing the book on he has kept this in his bedside cabinet to read again, which has to be a big recommendation.

Typical fun and pleasure book that you would expect from this author. Following on from the successes of the Para /Olympic Games it is rewarding to see how the London spirit is able to be documented so simply and owes plenty to not just London but the UK ethos itself. Rewarding book

I am a curious fan of Boris.
His writing style is gritty and interesting. He has passion, of that there is no doubt.
He is himself a true spirit of modern London, in my view.
A good read and some interesting choices by him,and facts.

A fascinating collection of facts about London and Londoners. Written in a chatty and readable style it covers the growth of London from pre Roman times to date with biographical details on people who helped to shape the London of today.

How can you not love Boris? But now I also respect his intellect.
Written with a sprinkling of good humour and a tangible passion for his subject, Boris has created a delightfully entertaining but totally informative brilliant read

....whether you like or loathe Boris Johnson this is a well written view of London through the ages. He writes with humour and has obviously done his research.

Each chapter is virtually a story in itself about the events and people who have made London and Britain. From the stoneage to the present time. The use of the English language is a shear pleasure to me.
