If you love Johnny Flynn's work then you've already made your mind up that you're going to buy this, and it is a reasonably good album, but with it being made for a film score, there's something lacking compared to A Larum and Been Listening. The songs are all performed by Johnny Flynn with and without his band (the Sussex Wit) but they don't quite feel like something he'd write, because he didn't write them for himself and his listeners, but for a movie; the tunes are less distinctive and lack character. Further more, I think his earlier work is better produced, and this may come down to who funded the recording.
On repeat listenings, I might grow to love it, but if you've never heard of Johnny Flynn, get his first two albums now, they're awesome. This may disappoint.
