I came new to this author but will certainly now be looking for her back list - and new books to come. I found the Laird of Lochandee an unputdownable read, filled with characters I cared about - some who raised sympathy, some ire, some amusement and affection. Gwen Kirkwood has crafted a lovely book of life between the wars in rural Scotland, highlighting hardships and loyalties, love and tragedy with uncanny skill. The beauty of south-west Scotland is also laid bare, along with the trials and tribulations of farming life. This is definitely a must-read book. I still feel the warm glow of satisfaction that accompanied me as I read it, longing to finish and know what would happen, but sorry to end the enjoyment of sharing these characters lives. More please!
