A very good book. I purchased it after reading that the film, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, was based off it. While a the book differs somewhat from the film, especially the ending i found it to be just as good as the film. There are some unusual or awkward phrases, no doubt due to the translation but thoses are to be expected and did not diminish my enjoyment of the book. A fine story, unusual and orginal comapred to more recent vampire stories. I managed to finsih it in two or three days. There is a preview for the next book at the end of the book. All in all a good read. I would recommend it to the fans of the Anime films based off it.

Set in the future where the existence of vampires and monsters is a fact of life . a man hires vampire hunters to save his daughter from a noble vampire who abducted her.

The hunters are , the marcus clan .a team of five siblings , four brothers and one sister, who will do anything , like killing their rivals , to get their bounty. the other hunter is a dhampir , Half man , half vampire . who goes by the name D. and the hunt is on.

My second vampire hunter d novel after volume one . In this volume , hideyuki kikuchi delivers a strong , breathless and chilling tale of hunting ,duels ,romance and horror . unlike the first book . where creating and setting the rules to kikuchi's troubled future , took it's toll on the story line.

The back cover of the book says there are five illustrations by vampire hunter D designer yoshitaka amano. There are six actually.

Be careful if you're giving this book to a minor .the story describes a short incest scene.

What about the film adaptation?

The original story is better and a lot scarier than the film adaptation.

This book is nothing short of an epic in the series. Hideyuki Kikuchi pushes his imagination to the limits in writing this book, and not a single character is the least bit boring. This is so memorable for the great action, good characterisations and drama!

The bits with the Marcus clan, the growth of Leila and the three Barbarois all make for a great read whether fighting between themselves or facing off against D.

This is the best action novel I have ever read, and I am really looking forward to the next in the series.
