This book is about a man who moves in with his girlfriend (and then marries her) and their elderly neighbours who spend all of their time thinking up evil things to do to their neighbours on both sides. They are forever calling the police to complain. The police know them well and there is never any action taken -at least as far as I read!. Tom tries various things, such as putting up cameras to record the stomping on their plants and stealing their tools, but their neighbours have a lawyer for the elderly on their side. At about 60% I got so tired of unrelenting nastiness and the story wasn't going anywhere, and also much of it seemed implausible, so I skipped to the end, then gladly deleted it. The ending even had another last nasty swipe in it.
I cannot recommend this thoroughly depressing book, unless you want to wallow in misery! What a nasty mind the author must have to think up a book like this.
