Another great value box set. does what it says on the tin (with one or two exceptions)
Wild and frantic Rockabilly, Rock and Roll and R&b (that's real R&B, not the stuff masquerading as music today)
usual standard artists, Wanda Jackson, Johnny Burnette, Eddie Cochran, Ray Sharpe, Ray Smith, Little Richard (standards), Mickey Hawks (a couple more than the usual Bip bop Boom, Ronnie Dawson, Ruth Brown (although a strange cut of "mama he treats your daughter mean" very commercial track which I suggest is not the 1953 cut it states to be) bizarre to include some Elvis's 60's output and Cliff Richard(!!!)but hey I'm being picky.
A nice couple of early Otis Redding and James Brown tracks, loads of Little Richard sound-a-likes. couple of nice johnny otis tracks too. very strange but interesting version of Hound dog by Frank Motley, a Jazz trumpeter famous for playing two at once!!!!, it claims he wrote it but I think Leiber and Stoller might have something to say!
