It is Jan 1945, SS Panzer Battlion Wotan is no more, destroyed in the Battle of the Bugle, its last surviving member Sgt Major Schuzle is attached to SS Group Europa, prior to assault on Budapest in an attempt to rescue the surrounded German garrison. Can Schuzle survive this last battle and the war??
As usual Kessler provides an excellent pulp war fiction story introducing new charactors and blood and guts for all.
Schulze takes over the unit which finds itself part of a larger SS outfit trying to break through to Budapest.
A crazy, fanatic SS officer determined to get everyone killed, plenty of Russians determined to help him, an armoured train and a 'Wandering Jew' all join the mix to provide an entertaining, but hardly believable, tale. It's all a bit far-fetched but enoybale of you like pulp war stories. Throw in an appearence by an SS Wiking recruit by the name of Sven Hassel (I kid you not) and you pretty much have all you need in this genre.
