After their excellent debut In Search Of Elusive.... I was wondering how they would follow up this effort. I like the upbeat feel and detailed attention to rhythm they have a la Paul Simon Graceland era. Where the first album was poppy and care free with lyrics aimed towards the 16-25 age range, the new album is definitely a more mature approach. The lyrics touch on observation and are put together in a literate way and the music has become more dense with added layers and fuller guitar riffs. It reminds me of The Smiths in places with the jingly jangly Johnny Marr-esque riffs. I'm not going to waffle on too long. But Overall this is a bigger sounding album than their debut with more emphasis on rhythm and hooks. It has an 80s feel near the end of the album where i really think the album shines. Only thing i could fault on is too many harmonies make it hard to hear the lyrics, but some people might prefer the extra harmonies. Good stuff from one of my favourite Indie bands at the minute.

Edited: After listening to this album more, Ive put it up an extra star. I'd say its my favourite album of 2012. Musically and lyrically a fantastic piece of work.

This album is utterly brilliant from start to end I literally cant stop listening to it.
I bought it thinking it might be an average indie album, I was completely wrong.
The song writing and structure to these songs far exceeds any kind of expectation i had.

From the upbeat(almost Carribean sounding)"Jennifer" to the thought provoking serious subject matter in "Violence Out Tonight"
And my personal favourite(although all are) "Waiting In The Shadows", This album is bursting with quality music in every track.

If you appreciate good music then you cant help but to love this album. Genius!!

The talent that Little Comets possess is extraordinary! Each song is special! The catchy guitar riffs, captivating drum beats and stunning vocals really complete each song! I can't pick out a favourite, each song is PERFECT! If you like such bands as Vampire Weekend or Two Door Cinema Club, you'll love Little Comets! This album will definitely lighten your spirit if you're feeling down! Such a wonderful band, I hope they get what they deserve! This album is a definite must have!!
