When you need some monstrous riffs, who do you turn to? Look no further, it's here, riffs that would rock Godzilla out of his slumber! As a rather lapsed metalhead, who slips back into his old black ripped jeans and favourite Black Sabbath/ Suicidal Tendencies tee, I was looking for something that could peel glossed woodchip from the walls at 50 paces, without the grunting Black Metal vocals ( not a fan) so I'm doubly pleased that I can whack this on when I need a monster riff to lift the daily sludge. Monster riffs, Bongtastic grooves like the Marianas Trench, and some great speed changes to keep it interesting. With tongues no doubt firmly planted in cheek judging from those track titles, they obviously don't take themselves overly serious, which, in my book, is a good thing. Does it make me want to pick up my guitar, whack some heavy gauge strings on and down tune it? sure does!!!
I had been listening to Bongripper a lot on Spotify and thought it would be worth purchasing this. Its a good album and if you like heavy riffs you will love it. Reminds me a lot of bands like 5ive Continuum Research Project and Godflesh. It all makes for a nice listening experience especially if you have the bass on high.
Hail - the mighty Bongripper Satan - makes this available to you at a bargain price for 50+ minutes of music Worship - at the altar of the riff Doom - will crush you with this epic 4 track feast of monstrous sludge.
Riffs - lots of riffs. Mostly ponderous and sludgy. Repetitive but never boring. Occasional outbreaks of faster riffing and understated guitar solos. Fans of Boris/Sleep/Electric Wizard and the like may well enjoy.
