As a replacement for the ubiquitous records, these are fine. They are not mastered brilliantly, however, and as such, I prefer the warmth of the old vinyl ... which pops up regularly in charity shops.
The Classical Rock revolution was of its time, and was exciting, combined with live concerts and a growing appreciation that rock music still had its merits. It brought generations together and supported the fusion idiom that shone through the work of Sky, Rick Wakeman. I was glad to find some of the CR albums available here. Shame they could not have been remastered and packaged up in a more exciting way.
For those who remember those days.

This 3 CD compliation is excellent.I have all of the origional ten Classic Rock albums by the London Symphony Orchestra recorded between 1976-1994.This set is from the first five albums although the very last track the Jesus Christ Superstar Suite is taken from the very last album in 1994.A very good selection which includes the entire ten tracks from the first album spread over the three discs with selected tracks from the other albums.Highlights are Get Back Baker Street Whole Lotta Love Paint It Black Eye Of The Tiger to name a few. This is thefirst big commercial release of the Orchestrated Rock format and contains some excellent arrangements. The LSO are indeed a force to be reckoned with as no other symphony orchestra can play this quite as well as them. The set also contains new liner notes about how the Classic Rock project came into being from one of the producers Don Reedman.I have had the priviledge of attrending CLassic Rock concerts in the 80's and early 90's ath both the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican in London. The concerts were sold out!!I sincerely hope this project is revived because to listen to these again shows the depth of quality and versatility of the greatest orchestra in the world.

I regularly play this music CD while driving in my car and I find it helps jolly me along. Certain styles of driving, that I have witnessed, can produce distressingly powerful reactions in myself and; while I cannot definitely state that any owners of mobile homes or Mini Cooper D vehicles actually owe their lives to this music; the possibility cannot casually be dismissed.
