I have no idea how old the author is, possibly early teens, but this book offers very little in actual fact. It is written in the style of a school essay, there is very little detail and it reads terribly. It appears the author has read another book on the subject, made some notes and then produced a book. I read the whole book in 20 minutes and am angry I wasted £2 on it. Rubbish.

This book is okay for someone who is unfamiliar with the story of the West's as it provides a summary of the whole case-including the West's upbringings and their crimes. However, for those that have read other books solely written about the West's', I wouldn't recommend this. I appreciate that this book has been written to provide an overview due to the minimal amount of detail provided, but it offered absolutely nothing new about the West's and has relied heavily on the work of other more credible books written on the subject.

The book certainly gives one the background on this disturbing case but could have been done in a more succinct and less repetitive way. The physiological aspect, although touched on, could have been more in depth and the repetition concerning the individual victims negated the impact of these terrible crimes after a while.

A well-researched description of how the lives of two people were shaped by the malign influences within their own families; and later by each other. The work describes in fascinating detail how these flawed characters produced an explosion of sexual perversion, brutality and murder, including that of two of their own children. This book is an interesting read, though obviously not for the squeamish.

An excellent introduction for the casual reader, or for someone looking for a first step, before undertaking a more detailed investigation.
