This book does exactly what it says on the tin. There are no extraneous words, explanations, or introductions, the reader is taken from quote to quote. The proofreading leaves a little to be desired, for example, Gandhi's name is misspelled on the cover, some quotes are repeated in the book, and some quotes are very very similar to others or an extension of previous ones. It may be the great man had to say things more than once and said them in a slightly different way, but I think if you buy a book that says 300 quotes, you do expect that there are 300 significantly different quotes! There are also relatively long excerpts of speeches. I say relatively because the majority of quotes are a phrase or sentence, so in comparison they are long, but just too long to memorise and quote out loud unless maybe you're an actor and are used to doing such things. that said, I have the iPad Kindle version for £1.99, so to get, in a nutshell, the life's work and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi for £2 is well worth the money. I skimmed through it when I first got it and had an epiphany straightaway! knowing what I know now about the contents of the book, I would buy it again. so buy it!
