Dark, but very funky, almost jazzy, some would say 'drum 'n' funk. This has got to be one of the most listenable albums ever made, it makes even the loudest stereo seem weak and feeble with it's dark and alleyway like undertones. Within a day you'll be calling your friends to recommend this fantastic album. The music industry today don't give bands like this enough credit, even though the production is perfect. Buy it, & see what I mean.
I bought this after it was recomened by amazon, the first track the sleepless is absolutly brilliant , probably more so than railing from new forms. Image of you is also another classic. those are the stand outs, the rest of the album is good too. A jazzy feel to the music.
Simply brain spanking. Owned this album for quite a while now, thought it deserved my compliments. Since it created its own genres, Making Bones has yet to be beaten in its category. Such a shame Red Snapepr have split up.
Always been a big fan of Red Snapper and this has that lovely 90's dark and rootsy feel that would have sounded good in a club in Bristol playing alongside Smith and Mighty or Pressure drop. Sounds like these mapped the way for the truly great 90's underground sounds that the UK can be proud of.
Superbad, supercool..Red Snapper re-emerge with one of the darkest sounds around. Being used to the chunky double bass et al, this was a bit of a surprise when it's moody drum beats and shuddering bass scared me from the beginning. Listen to Crease and tell me that the floor doesn't tremble.
This is by far one of the grooviest albums I know. So funky, and what is the most interesting part, done live (yes, with an actual drummer and an upright bass), plus it contains "Image Of You", one of the most heart-breaking Trip Hop songs ever written. Just listen to the first 30 seconds of "Suckerpunch", "Bogeyman" or "Crease", and if you don't start moving deliberately, than you're devoid of any sense of rhythm whatsoever.
this is not hip hop, this is not drum and bass. this is something else, something far far better. almost a fusion of the best points from both. this cd is brilliant. i own over 60 cds and this is one that i can always listen to, and always ends up getting played at parties. I cannot think of any similar artists, the clossest probably is nightmares on wax. BUY THIS CD.
