Some vocal beat based tracks and a nice raw fresh 90's flavour. Direct beats and almost a smith and mighty feel to some tracks. Red snapper are very good live also. No messing straight up slamming basslines.

Most of the albums by Red Snapper blend the energy and innovation associated with great electronica, trip hop and drum and bass with well established music forms like jazz and psychedelic rock to create a genuinely new sound. What makes them stand out from the sometimes cringe worthy efforts of similar attempts, is their musicianship and style, proven with their stunning live performances.

For me, the compiled early work that makes up this album and in particular the tracks Cortina and In Deep (with an amazing example of how Beth Orton can sing), represent the very best of this side of Red Snapper. I've had this CD at least five years and still class it as one of the gems in my collection.

I have heard people complain that it is a little repetitive at times, so if you are the kind of person that listens to music with impatience, wanting twists and turns every few seconds then maybe it is not for you. But sit down with the bass up, relax and this album will draw you in.

Superb collection of songs - if you like cinematic orchestra, anything off the tru thoughts label, jazzy electronica of any sort....you're gonna love this.

Although coming across as more simplistic than their more recent efforts, this album still has some nice chilled grooves, with plenty of swooping double bass and spooky keys. The "trip hop" style beats are a little dated but the tunes are catchy enough to still merit a listen.
