Initial purchase April 2015. After a few months use it was apparent the centre element wasn't toasting anything like the outer ones resulting in bread being toasted on one side whilst barely brown on the other. I felt this was a manufacturing fault and so out of courtesy, I wrote directly to Russell Hobbs to advise of the problem, (I even sent them a couple of photos showing the results) Two weeks later and not having received a reply, I emailed them detailing the same issues. Again, I never received a reply so took to ringing them. The gentleman agreed there was obviously a problem with the toaster and suggested I contact Amazon and quote the reference number he gave me to arrange a replacement. He made no apology for the lack of replies to my correspondence. I duly contacted Amazon who were very cooperative and arrangements put in place for the product to be replaced, this without any problem. We received it the following day and the old one was duly collected from us.
Having had a previous Russell Hobbs toaster giving many years of excellent service, it is noticeable the new one is of a cheaper quality in material.
Lessons to be learnt. Whilst my "contract" was with the retailer, ie: Amazon and I could have just dealt with them, if you have reason to contact Russell Hobbs for any reason, don't expect a response, customer service isn't something they regard as important apparently.
