Bit of a departure from previous Bamboos albums but don't let that put you off. What this album lacks in funkiness, it makes up for with soulfulness. Give it a few listens and you won't be disappointed.
Having purchased On The Sly and enjoyed this album very much I jumped in and bought Medicine Man without a thought. Disappointed is an understatement. To go from such a fantastic album (On The Sly) to this is incredible. No strength in the music, no real roots or funk. My advise would be to listern to any sound bites first before you buy this album. A shame really as The Bamboos are obviously really talented and a great band, the same can not be said for the results of this last album.
I like the earthy instrumentals that characterised the Bamboos early albums. Medicine Man is different from these. It's actually very good, as indicated by most reviews on the web. I recommend listening first. Some very cool tracks. This is a group that isn't standing still.
