This an excellent album with a good mix of Americana from the era which could loosely be described as "The Great Depression", although some of the tracks are not related to the depression itself, or even protest songs and some are earlier or later than the The Great Depression. That doesn't matter though, it is an album well worth having even though you might already own a number of recordings from other compilations. On the strength of the music and the clarity of the recordings, which are very good considering the age, I would have given this compilation five stars. Unfortunately there is one big problem. Eighteen of the tracks have been muddled up with both the track name and the metadata incorrectly recorded. To correct this I had to change the file names and meta data as follows: T33 to T50, T34 to T33, T35 to T34 etc. Confusing? Well, I was, and it took well over an hour to put right! If someone from Amazon reads this review and confirms that the corrections have been made, I will change my rating from 2 Stars to 5.

Another "Not New Music " botch-up. Both disc's were printed out to be 2 disc' of 50 different songs, but what you get is 2 helpings of the 1st CD.

This is one of those collections that delivers - good quality and full of good selections. It is more than a collection of protest songs, more a soundtrack of the period.
Well packaged and delivered on time - a good buy

A great selection of songs from Guthrie to Baez.
From the dustbowl to the campuses of the 60's.
As relevant to today as they were then.
Depressing thought but a neccessary one, if were not to give in.

A good collection of sing-a-long ditties. An historical record as well as songs for the times. Good Art.

A good mixture of mainly U.S.A. protest songs from several decades (40s to 70s) and provides a perspective of protest music and the artists who created it. Many of the songs feature in the book "33 revolutions per minute", which lists 100 protest songs and gives good background information on the artists concerned.
