Window into history in the making. Livingstone a passionate opponent of slave trade and a hardy explorer. Of anthropological , medical, political, ecological, nautical and religious interest. Could have done with some maps though.
Don't expect a riproaring read. This is a factual account by a missionary describing an unfamiliar land and its inhabitants and the problems they encountered. I read this as part of my research for a novel I intend to write and as such it gave little insight into the mindset of explorers or the native peoples. Worth reading if you already have an interest in this genre but not holiday reading.
