It's a big day in America - it is Peace Day and a device is being detonated which will render all nuclear weapons ineffective. Most people just go about their business, unconcerned about this event, until the device explodes and the fallout is that humans who are exposed are turned into zombies. Those that remain face the challenge of survival.

This is another zombie horror film but it is a notch above many others on offer. To start with, there are a number of well known actors who, although not stretched here, put in a reasonable performance. The story, while hardly original is well told and paced and draws in a number of sub plots along the way instead of following just one group of people. It also helps that the reason for the zombie outbreak is explained, something which seems obvious but is so often dismissed by filmmakers.

For those that like zombie kills there should be enough blood to satisfy, along with the standard of zombies feeding on the uninfected and as things progress, other zombies.

In this 2011 humorous post-apocalyptic horror [aka: remains of the walking dead], Tom [Grant Bowler] and Tori [Evalena Marie] are ‘making out’ in a stockroom when world "Peace Day", a day when the entire world's supply of nuclear weapons is set to be destroyed, goes wrong, resulting in the rest of humanity bring turned into flesh eating zombies. What are they going to do now? Can they just sit it out or is that a mistake?
The opening title sequence, with it’s quirky upbeat music sets the scene as the survivors have a laid back approach and don’t panic as in other movies, they just bumble along as though it’ll all blow over in a couple of days. Unlike many Zombie movies, this isn’t all ‘kill and run’ much focus’ on the relationships within the group. Another good feature is that as time passes, so the zombies become cleverer and faster. However it does tend to have a computer game atmosphere to it in places.
The single disc opens to 3 trailers before going to main menu offering just play and scene selection but it doesn’t half make you jump with it’s shock value and driving music. Although there is gore, it tends to be more moderate than most which will not please all. The pace is generally quick, with a few minor slow spots. As a 15 rating it’s a definite *****, but as an 18 it might disappoint if you want the fast pace and tension of ‘Rec’ or ‘Resident Evil”.

I enjoy films and I will watch films over and over if I like them. This is a 1 watch wonder.

This is a movie that did not have anything ground breaking to add to the genre, but could have been a lot more solid in story and execution. Zombie films can, by the very nature of what a zombie is, only really be humanoid looking (in my opinion). I thought for a moment that having the zombies all sleeping of a night was quite a refreshing touch that should have worked a lot better but there were even flaws in how this was used. As stated in other reviews, one moment a whole bunch will wake by noise, but a gunshot in the middle of a group wakes 1 or 2.

I could have forgiven the films little plot holes and, at times poor CGI until I noticed the following......

The main character has 2 fingers cut off during the film to prevent infection.

Don't then let him sit there talking to another character 10 minutes from the end on the stage with all 10 of his little pinkies on show. Terrible glaring schoolboy error.

I would suggest this film for real Zombie horror fans. It's lacking in decent story/effects/acting. The trailer on the DVD I had was for Stakeland. Spend your money on that instead...........

This is good for a low budget movie. Reminds me a bit of "zombie apocalypse" starring Ving Rhames as they mention going to Catalina. They got a few well known actors into the film. It has good action in parts and over all it is quite worth the money.

Not a Bad little Zombie Flick. It seemed however to take alot of its ideas from the Dead Rising Video Games, with its Casino setting and escape in the Rolling Ball scenes.Given that its based on a Steve Niles Comicbook I also thought that there was nothing on the screen that had'nt been seen a Million times before in other Undead flicks.Still though, given its obviously Tiny budget these as only small gripes.

Quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Could only get about half way through, vainly thinking it might get better or have a twist in the tail

Low budget should not mean, bad acting, poor plot and should not be used as an excuse for such.

From very early on you just want the main cast to get eaten as quickly as possible to put us all out of our misery.

Don't waste your time with this one.

Dont bother. I didn't watch all of this because it was boring and predictable. The acting is bad and tbh I expected better from 30 days of night people. I didn't ser the last twenty minutes and I found out later from an online plot synopsis that I was completely right.

Not a great Zombie movie, too slow and not much happens. I've seen better B-movie zombie films which are better.
