While some people might not be impressed with a collection of covers, I think Boyce Avenue has done a great job of keeping true to the original melodies, while delivering a powerful acoustic sound.
I enjoy the original versions of these songs, but I think the lyrics are more pronounced when not being overwhelmed by electronica. The lead singer of BA also has a strong, clear voice that works well on every track...even the ones that are normally sung by a female vocalist.
It seems like it has become more common for new musicians to do twists on covers (ex: electronica to acoustic, rap to rock, etc.), rather than produce their own work, but Boyce Avenue has done a great job of setting themselves apart from the rest by delivering the very best acoustics.
