I have read some Tuffers before and found this less amusing than previous books, simply due to familiarity. If its your first encounter with him and like cricketing anecdotes, then this is a worthwhile way to spend a few quid and get a chuckle or two. You will hear a few shameful stories as to how professional sportsmen behaved in days gone by. Today these incidents would be all over the social media and whipped into the celebrity scandals we see today. Instead of the bored, bantering boys that they were.
What I find interesting about Tuffers is the way he reinvents himself. Who would have thought that a once pony tailed, early school leaving angry teenager would be seen so often on TV these days? In non-sporting roles too. One has to credit the man with drive and endurance. At his own pace of course.
