There are some ridiculously vitriolic reviews of this album on various web sites.If you are a fan of the jangly pop of the Lemonheads Come on feel,or Tilly and the wall Wild like children then you will love this album.There`s also a lovely 50s vibe on a number of tracks,which recall the sound of Connie Francis, high praise fully deserved.If you like any of the above, and i would throw Nicole Atkins into the mix,then just buy this album.Only one reservation,the brevity of the album leaves you thirsty for more.

Truth is, the lyrics on this are juvenile and sometimes cringe inducing. It's true that Bethany Cosentino is a slightly annoying scene chick. It's even true that some of this is pretty corny. Yet I can't shake the feeling that this is the most addictive record I've heard in the last few months.
2012 thus far has hardly been a vintage year for any genre, and perhaps that's why I'm enjoying this album so much. It stands out as a catchy, melodic, and most of all fun way to spend thirty minutes, racing along at a decent pace through eleven songs about love and youth, tinged throughout with the nostalgia that pervades modern indie music. Some have criticised the glossy production, though honestly the sound isn't that far away from the fuzzy aesthetics of debut album 'Crazy For You'. There's a little sheen added, nothing more, and it still more or less sounds like it could have been recorded in someone's garage, albeit on better equipment than on her infamously lo-fi early work.
Although the title track is the only one that matches up to the infectious glories of 'Boyfriend', 'When I'm With You' or 'The Sun Was High', this is undeniably a very solid release, and pretty consistent over its length. It's all pretty likable, although it isn't going to convert people who hated the first album, hate the overall vibe and dismiss Cosentino as a shallow hipster.

It's only their second release, so we don't really know what a Best Coast lp sounds like yet. But if they continue to sound as good as this, I'll be quite happy, thanks. Jon Brion's simple and fresh production makes the most of Ms. Cosentino's vocals, and expands the instrumentation to fine effect. It still sounds like Best Coast to me, but this time it's summer in widescreen so put your flip-flops on and go skip in the spume. There's also an awesome bear on the cover and you can't say fairer than that.
