The instructions do say not to immerse in water (which, to me is impractical and unhygienic), but in just giving it a thorough rinse under the tap before the first use, a little water entered the space between the plastic mug and the inner metal lining, and I was unable to get this out. I tried repeatedly putting boiling water in the mug, hoping the trapped water drops would steam out again, but this didn't work.

The other major negative is the lid. It stinks of chemical / plastic, even after repeated washing. Not healthy. I can only assume it is made of poor quality material.

I can't understand why these mugs are as popular as they are and how so many major retailers sell them. I think this mug is very badly designed and made of poor quality material. It just looks nice. That's all. Mine has been disposed of.

The lid is in no way spillproof, the rubber seal in mine arrived broken and the bottom of the mug allows water to get in between the metal container inside and the plastic casing outside when you wash it up.

Do not buy. Have had for 4 weeks. Water leaks in between outer shell and inner making the cup leak from the bottom. Definitely not Thermos quality.

Luckily I done my research before buying and got the full on thermos flasks for carrying the drinks. These are not spill proof at all.

HOWEVER, they are absolutely brilliant!

I brought 6 for my family to have hot chocolates on a snowy swiss mountain. The hot chocolate was scolding coming out of the flasks (nearly 2 hours after being put in them!) and stayed hot in every one of these mugs for the duration of us being at the top of the mountain (around an hour)

So worth it if you're in a cold environment and you hate your hot drinks getting too cold!

Brilliant little mug, keeps everything snug and warm inside. Good enough we bought another - little bit disappointed with the typical low standards of quality checks from rogue Chinese manufacturers - the mugs have a small thermal insulated pad underneath the base, the first one that arrived had a clear segment missing that had been cut wrong and way too short (very clean cut indicating machine process) - and you could see the dried glue that had been pre-smeared onto the plastic ready to hold the would-be-full-disc shaped thermal pad in place. The second mug, had a completely fine thermal pad underneath. Not a big problem, the mug is still very usable and probably doesn't even make a difference in the long run. Still, would've been a five star if QC was more up to scratch. Worth a purchase regardless if you have an insufferable case of your hot drinks going cold consistently due to minor neglect/distraction!

This is a nice size and you can drink from it without feeling like the thickness of the cup sides are a hindrance. Not as nice to drink from as an actual tea cup but it keeps drinks hot way longer (perfect if you have a baby!) so this is the winner for now.
Negative points are the lid isn’t super tight and liquids will come through the sip hole even if the lid is in the closed position and it isn’t translucent - there’s a metal inner cup but you can’t even see this through the outer plastic so it’s a bit misleading. Overall I’m happy with it but it’s annoying as can’t put it in the dishwasher

Apart from condensation being formed in the vacuum area, it's a nice large (red) mug that keeps your drink warm. The handle could be more comfortable, but it does it's job well enough.

Edit: I've had this mug for just over a month and I'm changing my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. The space at the bottom of the mug heats and condenses the air into water. After a few weeks use there's literally a small pool of water in there. Guess what happens when that nearly fills up? Yup, it leaks all over the side. Poor design. Look for something that has a one piece plastic surround and not one that has a rubber bottom that's glued to the bottom.

I'm going to break the rubber at the bottom to allow the heated air to escape, but of course that will affect the thermal benefits of the mug! Should have just got a regular mug.

It keep the coffee hot but the lid smells and tastes of plastic. I am hoping it will dissipate as time goes on.

Not sure who's more of a mug, the mug itself or me for buying it (I actually bought two*, so that answers that one)! It holds liquid, but thats about all it does. The lid is not water tight and therefor is not air tight, the lid is also made from fairly thin plastic which means all of this adds up to poor/ no insulation. The end result being that it keeps your coffee hot, no longer than a standard open top mug and prevents spillage's no more than a standard mug either as the lid leaks like a sieve! Tilt it ever so slightly and you'll be soaking up spilt coffee with your tie for hours, better yet, use a colleagues tie - If he's still attached, best to ask permission first!

Beside it mostly failing to perform its chief purpose, It does look nice and providing you don't buy it thinking it will keep your drink lovely and hot for the hour advertised, or will prevent pouring the contents inside your cars cup holder(s) on a roundabout, then it is indeed a lovely mug.

*I'd just like to point out that I don't walk around the office wielding a mug in each hand, one was for my Girlfriend. Hers is purple, so she'd probably give it 5 Stars.

Good mug for using around the office. For the price it keeps drinks hot enough for about an hour, maybe more if you pre-heat the cup. Its not leak-proof enough to take out and about. The main downside is that is can't be put in a dishwasher - I did before reading the instructions and now there is water in the middle of the cup.
