Make no mistake - this book completely demolishes the case against Lee Harvey Oswald! The evidence relating to the shell casings as presented in chapter 9 is so damning that even an average to poor defence counsel would have chewed up and spat out the case against LHO in no time at all.

The lone assassin theory has always been extremely dodgy, what with magic bullets, conflicting eyewitness testimony, the biased approach of the Warren Commission by failing to consider evidence that pointed away from LHO and the vast string of improbabilities and coincidences we are expected to accept.
The one and only aspect of the case that lone-nut theorists have been able to cling to was the record relating to the physical evidence.
This book finally cuts that tiny remaining thread.

The focus of the first 8 chapters is very much on setting out the legal framework in general terms to give the reader an appreciation of what a prosecutor must achieve in order to secure a guilty verdict. We are reminded that under US law, thankfully, there is still a presumption of innocence. The onus is therefore on the prosecutor to demonstrate 'beyond reasonable doubt' that a defendant is guilty.
The author attempts to quantify what is meant by 'reasonable doubt' and also sets out what kind of problems with a case may constitute 'reasonable doubt'.

Whilst the scene-setting approach taken in these early chapters may leave the reader a little impatient it is important that this framework be established in this way. No doubt this will make particularly uncomfortable reading for those lone-nut theorists who tend to have more of a lynch-mob mentality that because "Oswald worked in the TSBD,was a communist, had defected to Russia, had a Russian wife and owned a rifle then he must be guilty".

The other background information in these early chapters that will certainly upset many lone-nutters is the information pertaining to documented criminal actions/plans by the US Government such as Operation Northwoods and COINTELPRO.

The OPERATION NORTHWOODS plans were so outrageous and so evil that many find it difficult to accept that their government could ever give such a plan a second thought. It should be borne in mind that the only person who stood in the way of this evil plan was none other than JFK !

In chapter 9, the author delivers the knockout blow. Having established without any doubt that any attempted prosecution of Oswald would have failed, the only question that remains is whether such a result would constitute a guilty man escaping justice via a technicality, the exoneration of a completely innocent man wrongly accused or something in between.

As this is only volume one the answer to that question remains outstanding, however, as the author demonstrates, given that the US authorities have gone to such great lengths to implicate Oswald by manufacturing evidence and organizing a concerted cover up of the truth we already have a flavour of what the answer will be!

To date no-one has taken up the JFK challenge. I note from the author's wesbite that he has upped the reward to $100,000 as of November 2013 and plans to increase it by $5000 per month going forward. It is now August 2014 so that means the reward now stands at $145,000. Come on Bugliosi, Posner - as it is such an open and shut case surely one of you has the guts to take up the challenge?

Maybe the reason they haven't is that they've already seen the author's video ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25QiW5K9U9c

Now for volume 2!

This is a great read that presents a remarkable premise: if Oswald had lived, he'd never have been convicted! And not, by the way, because he wasn't guilty, there's little question about that...it's how, in the insane state of Texas and rules of evidence, his case would have been thrown out, virtually! Read it to see why, as it combines history, law, and circumstances very well indeed. The only reason for not advancing a fifth star...as a book, it'll not be required reading in high schools (particularly in Texas)...it's just a good read.

Vincent Bugliosi has already convinced a jury of Oswald's guilt in 1986 during the famous unscripted mock trial against Oswald. The trial was organized as would a real trial be, with a Dallas judge and a Dallas jury. The whole trial can be seen on YouTube. It was the first case Gerry Spence, Oswald's attorny, lost in years. So it would be fair to send the money to Bugliosi. Case closed.

Sounds like the conspiracy nuts buy more books than sane people, this guy is making money out of you mugs who will believe anything that is pro conspiracy or makes The reader feel 'clever'. Lee harvey oswald shot JFK, the facts against him are overwhelming, just a few for example, shooting at a general weeks before with same rifle, bringing in a bag with 'curtain rods' on the morning, his gun found at the scene, his prints on boxes and gun, witnesses before and during shooting visual and hearing, fleeing the scene, shooting dead a cop 4 minutes later (eight witnesses), the bullets and cartridges were from his gun to the exclusion of all others. Now a top lawyer might get him off, after all O J simpson got off, this guys tactics are to swamp the reader with with rumour/spin/propoganda which impresses the feeble minded, this book is for conspiracy nuts or people who go against the grain (ironically conspiracy believes are probably in the majority) this just proves how easily misled people are by books and people who sound confident in the way they speak/write, and aRe incapable of clear logical, unbiased, balanced thinking, its no skin off my nose hes taking your money, as for the $25,000 what a pitiful amount for someone with his money. GUILTY !!!!!
