For the most part, this is a tremendous book, especially for anyone who has a basic grounding in ZBrush and is looking to expand their knowledge. It's jam-packed with huge tutorials that cover a vast array of ZBrush's features, enabling the reader to sculpt some fantastic creatures and paint them in Photoshop.

The only downside - and the reason it doesn't get a 5-star review - is that, with the Kindle version at least - the download of the required files and video tutorials (of which there are hours and hours worth...), was fraught with issues which eventually required the publishers to (very kindly) send them to me on disc. Despite this, a few of the required Photoshop brushes were still missing, meaning I could not properly complete one of the sections.

It's also worth noting that (unmentioned in the book's description) some of the tutorials require the use of Maya to complete properly. It doesn't detract too much from the book however, but it's definitely something to bear in mind.

Whether you are a beginner or an industry veteran, an artist looking to move into creature design or just character design in general. Then this book is a must read, you will be hard pushed to find a more complete reference on the subject. In fact - I would recommend any digital or traditional artist picking up a copy of this book. You will not be disappointed.

So Scott Spencer writes a book and then gets a compliment off Eric Keller who says even he has learnt from this. Wow! Whats the point of adding anymore these 2 amazing authors are the reason I was able to learn ZBrush and continue to do so especially with excellent publications like this to further everyones knowledge. Thanks Scott and Eric for dedicating your precious time to educate us all. This book is excellent! Next one please!!
