This thoughtful little tale has been published before in one of Charles de Lint's anthologies. However, it's nice to have it on Kindle too. It tells the story of a young musician who upsets a 'butter spirit' who not only plays nasty tricks but wants the boy for the tithe to a much nastier spirit, the Grey Man. Luckily, Conn's fellow musician, Miki, who is a de Lint regular character, knows just how to fight the world of fey, and it's a race against time to save her friend from... well, read it and find out. As usual, de Lint draws you in and makes the story happen right in front of your eyes. A keeper!
