Good sound, but a bit tricky to get working on Windows 10
on 20 September 2017
This card works well, but it was a bit tricky to set up on my Windows 10 PC. Physically installing the card is a doddle, but getting it to work correctly posed a couple of obstacles. Neither the CD nor the instructions which came with it were of assistance. Windows failed to auto-install a driver, so I had to find one.
After Googling a bit, it seems that most people prefer the UNi Xonar driver. So I downloaded that, and it was straightforward to install.
The card then worked, but I found the sound was a bit quiet. The solution was to go to 'Playback devices', right-click Xonar, select 'Properties', go to 'Advanced' tab and change the sample rate to 24 bit, 44100 Hz.
Having done all that, the card seems to give good sound.
