While the shadow of Dark Earth holds menace and threat the wealthy and powerful are turning it into an adventure holiday destination despite it's lacks of what our western society would consider justice or law, maybe that was it's attraction. For the family of a wealthy CEO their holiday turns into a nightmare as they are attacked with the intent of robbery and possibly kidnapping for ransom, Hannah their nanny/bodyguard stays behind and fights for her life to buy the family time to escape and her capture underpins this story. Dark Earth once again comes calling on Katalina Wimple now a former officer of the law but still a hands on advocate for those in need of saving and justice and working in conjunction with a reborn Skyler who is using her resources and talents to do good they are drawn into the hostage rescue/investigation of the brave and fearless Hannah. Wolfgirl spins a tale built solidly on the foundation of their first two books in the series, the mainly female cast of characters are all well defined, independent and strong and are capable of taking and dishing out punishment as they see fit. The twists come from the events taking place in Dark Earth where magic and lore prevail meaning an armour plated gun toting bad ass may not have the upper head but integrity, strength and pure guts may be enough to win the day. Another excellent addition to The Lost Girls series of books.
Jason produces consistently good stories with interesting plots and characters. This one is no exception. If you have read the first of this series (and I recommend you do), you will know what you are getting into. Excellent book
