Found this short story very good. Only problem was I wished it was longer. Excellent story and liked the way it jumped between the present and past.

It was not a bad read ,it makes a change to see the other side of the story form the soldiers side

My heading says it all, really. The story is told mainly from the viewpoint of the British Army men who were given the unenviable task of trying to keep the peace in NI. Hated by both sides and at risk of their lives, it was as difficult a task as any the Army has ever been given - except maybe Afghanistan - but don't start me!

My heading says it all!! Really disappionted with this, I thought it poorly researched and the lack of local nameplaces reinforced my opinion. Why have a book about N.Ireland yet have fictitious towns, streets etc..it does not add to the drama unless you know nothing about the Troubles. I almost stopped reading when the author mentioned that the barracks had been hit with an anti-tank round (yeah..that happened all the time),but I struggled through. If you have no experience or knowledge of N.Ireland then you might well enjoy this but don't expect it to be an accurate account of what happened. A poor reflexion of a tour in NI and the lack of fine detail made it less believable. At the price I thought it worth a go, you may well enjoy it..it just happens I didn't.

Great insight to the trials and tribulations of the armed forces in Northern Ireland, the impact of the task on people and families

jumped about between present and flashback was sometimes blurred, making for a confusing read and no resolution at the end.
